Limestoner,  April 30th 2016- Annual fundraising climbing competition at Reimers Ranch.

Granite Gripper Climbing Competition, December 5th 2015- The annual climbing competition was rescheduled to December 5th, 2015. The annual competition is hosted by the Central Texas Climbing Committee, which governs climbing development at Enchanted Rocks. All proceeds benefit Friends of Enchanted Rock.

CTM Nominations and Elections, November 1st-30th– Do you know someone great for the CTM board?  Are you passionate about climbing in Central Texas?  We will be accepting nominations for the following positions with the CTM Board: President, Access Coordinator, Secretary, Events Coordinator, Treasurer.

CTM Holiday Party, December 12th– CTM hosts a holiday party every year to to announce new officers and celebrate the end of the year. This year, CTM’s current Secretary, Evening Galvin, has agreed to host.

It’s My Parks Day 2015, March 7th- The trail day was held at North Shore this year as there are several trails that were impacted by last September’s tree fall. We also have an unfinished trail to the Insanity wall that needed attention. Check out pictures on our Facebook page.

CTM Member Meeting and Gear Swap, February 28th–  On February 28th CTM met for a member meeting and gear swap. Bring your too-small shoes, packs, climbing gear (trad gear welcome!) and swap or sell with other members. Joel gave a brief talk about climbing beta for Mexico (El Salto included).

Rock Dog One Year Anniversary Party– Rock Dog is the newest campground in Central Texas and a great place to crash on the weekend for climbing at Pace Bend or Reimer’s. They celebrated their anniversary February 28th with free camping, a keg, and crate stacking!

CTM Holiday Party, December 13th– ‘Tis the season! CTM invites all of our members, friends, significant others, and Central Texas climbers to our annual Holiday Party! Anthony Stevens generously offered to host this year at his house in North Austin. Bring your shoes for the bouldering wall in the garage and chairs to toast around the fire. Come out to party with climbing, music, beer, and camaraderie! New board members and Routes Committee members are announced at the party.

CTM Board Member Elections- CTM is accepted nominations until November 24th for Board member and Routes Committee positions. See our post here for available positions. Elections are held the first week of December via email announcement. You need to be a CTM member to vote.
23rd Annual Granite Gripper, October 25th
The oldest trad climbing competition in Texas! The Gripper is a a tough competition combining traditional styles, bold sport climbing, and bouldering. This event is hosted by the Central Texas Climbing Committee; all proceeds go to Friends of Enchanted Rock. Enjoy climbing, barbecue, raffle prizes, and awards. Valley Uprising, October 16th
 Reel Rock 9: Valley Uprising. Valley Uprising is the riveting, unforgettable tale of climbing’s bold tradition: half a century of struggle against the laws of gravity — and the laws of the land. Paramount Theaters, Doors 7pm. Tickets no longer available.
Fall Member Meeting- October 6th
CTM hosted a CTM Members Meeting October 6th at Opal Divine’s Penn Field at 7pm. We had updates on the latest news in the climbing community, followed by a discussion on Access Fund Joint Membership. If you’re new to the climbing community, CTM meetings are a great opportunity to meet other climbers and learn about CTM.
National Public Lands Day with APF- September 27th
Austin Parks Foundation hosted trail projects for National Public Lands Day. CTM’s project was held at the Seismic Wall climbing area, working on erosion control for the belay area. Registration for this area is now closed.
NF Speaker Series, August 23rd- Alex Honnold with Sender Films speaks on the Relativity of Risk. Paramount Theaters, Doors 7pm.
Katie Lambert Slideshow, June 22nd- Crux Climbing is hosted Katie Lambert, COO of Sacred Rok, Eddie Bauer athlete, and all around bad ass packed into a 5’4″ frame, from Yosemite. She gave us an evening of adventurous tales in gorgeous lands. CTM was there along with representation from the Access Fund and the American Alpine Club.

National Trails Day– CTM was out at Reimer’s North Shore for National Trails Day. Fourteen volunteers in 2.5 hours created a trail from the North Shore trail out to Dude Wall. The Dude Wall was recently developed and there was no obvious trail. Next time you’re out to Reimer’s, check out the trail and wall (past the creek on your left). There are a lot of great moderate climbs, serving as a good warm-up or all-day fun.

DamNation Screening- Patagonia Austin invited the Austin outdoor community to join them Thursday June, 5th at 7:00pm for their screening of Damnation, a film created by Patagonia that explores environmental and fiscal concerns of our nations dams.

CTM Clinic Day– CTM invited its members out to participate in a wide variety of classes and clinics taught by qualified volunteers at Reimer’s Ranch on June 1st, including lead climbing by Rock-About, bolting, knot tying, and slacklining classes. We had a great turn-out and look forward to doing more events like these in the future! Visit our Facebook page for pictures. Thanks to everyone who came out!

AAC Send and Social– Held at Reimer’s Ranch May 31st, 2014, the Send and Social offered a chance for all Texas climbers to get together. Camping, games, and beer followed at Rock Dog Campground after the event.

CTM Member Meeting and Social– Held May 15th, 2014 at Opal Divine’s Penn Field Location. It featured a short slide show presentation on climbing in Morocco, followed by a presentation by the CTM board on upcoming events and news. Check out the presentation on our post.

Limestoner Climbing Competition 2014- Check out the 2014 Limestoner page for the results and recap of the competition at Reimer’s Ranch Park. 

Banff Mountain Film Festival and Radical Reels 2014– Sponsored by Whole Earth Provision Co and held at the Paramount Theater, this two-day screening of the most amazing mountaineering and adventure films was held April 12th and 13th. proceeds benefit Texas State Parks.
